my life from day to day. it will be very bland I'm sure?

Hablo ethpanol?

i've been working in a fiberglass shop in southern california for over a year now and today I was thinking about learning spanish. That got me to thinking about accents and dialects and a trip i took a few years back to Argentina. I went to beunos aires on short notice and tried to learn spanish on the ride down. i did pretty good. one thing that struck me funny was that they pronounced a lot of words with etheth in them ath if they had a lithp. it was because thome king way back had a lithp and tho he made hith whole country thay things the way he did. ithn't that thtupid? like if he had a bum leg , all hith people would have to limp. what a thtinking jack ath he muthta been.

dreams of the homeful

I miss my old brick bus. yesterday i saw a cool solution for the truck owner. the "solution" I speak of is the ability to feel the freedom of a homeless person by taking naps anywhere you can drive to. the bus wasn't much of a vehicle for california freeways with a top speed of 50 mph downhill with a tail wind but it was the BEST place to nap once you came to that breezy beachside or campground. anyway, there's a company called flip pac that is awesome if you own a truck. I think I might get one.Go check it out and if you get one, tell them scott lane sent you! maybe they'll cut me a deal. The baby is five days late now. that's my kid allright! I expect her to be completely unprepared when she shows up too!

self portrait in dirty mirror

well, the holiday weekend came and went and as you can see from this remarkable self portrait in a dirty mirror, I'm still not a dad and Irene has not mastered digital photography. Maybe she'll have some time to perfect her art while we wait for the baby to come along. Posted by Picasa

okay, in true procrastinator fashion, i's been a couple days since I posted. I found out a have link from my friend's blog so I am now required to put something entertaining here. being devoid of any real excitement in my life, I will make somethng up. something juicy, something personal and something a reader may be able to relate to. Let's talk about EAR HAIR!!! when I was younger and even more foolish I used to try to tell my 40 something friend that he would get more chicks if he would get rid of his bushy ear hair. he never responded to my comments. it was like they never came out of my mouth. i was like, "hello, hello check 1..2..3.. is this thing on?". fast forward 10 yearsssssswooooooosh! here we are in the present. I now have ear hair. I realize that it is more aggressive and persistant than I had imagined earlier. So, Lets' talk about the treatment options for someone thus stricken. 1) you could trim it when you get your haircut but then you have bristly pom pom ear tufts that are somehow dumber than the orginal article. furthermore the shorter hairs make the second two options more difficult and less effective. I often feel the barber nuzzling the trimmers in there to gently hint that I ought to do something. it's not like they are really trying to remedy the problem or do a thorough job, they just want to point it out without saying anything.I bat them away because they are shortening the hairs beyond my ability to grip them (covered in the next two options) and they just give me a dirty look like i'm in denial or they wonder why I am coveting my ear hair 2) nair and other de-pilliatory chemical agents. turn the hair to mush that can be wiped out but the wiriest and bristliest of these hairs remain behind like oak stumps in your ear's front yard. now the shortened stumps are harder to grip with needle nose pliers. the chemicals make your ears sting and the consequent ripping makes for an even more sensitive situation. 3) no chemicals no trimming simply grip the hairs and rip them out. if you are lucky you may develop a nervous habit of ripping out your ear hair . sure, this option hurts but no more than the burning chemicals followed by ripping. I would like to develop some optimally grippy pliers for this task. regualr needle nose don't grip well enough and often only take the thickest hair. the unyielding jaws are held open to the width of the biggest hairs much like big john in the coal mine and all the little hairs escape. I a little rubber padding might even the playing field little. 4) the 4th and most obvious option is to do nothing. just admit you are almost 40 and this is part of your beautiful mature body. hair on back or "hob" is imminently approaching. I should revel in the fact that I'm becoming a silver back! I should be proud that I have survived this long. The point of all this is to request some sympathy or at least awareness of the dillemas that the hairy eared man faces in our society. I have been enjoying option 3 lately and it seems to be working. I'll start working on those pliers. first I need a catchy name. Ear clear? grip N rip? your comments are welcome...

Hey! I just got my picture on jowlers.com you can too! it's easy. go see if you can find me there. the picture you see here isn't even my best work!

This is my mother in law. I want to make sure it's understood, that despite my earlier comments, I'm very glad she's here with us to help with the baby. For the record, I'm a horses ass to complain about nonstick pans and anything else that can be wrecked in our crummy little house. She has given up her whole life in san franscisco to come down and make things easier for us. I want it to be perfectly clear that if I tease and poke fun of a culture that is different from ours, it's only because it's so easy and funny. All the while it should be understood that this is a great lady and the family bond in this culture is stronger and better than anything I have experienced in my life before. I'm very proud to become chinese. it's a great feeling.

This is my workstation, I sit on a big blue ball. I have some jammin Bose speakers too. I covered the name Bose with electrical tape so nobody steals them. The ball has helped with my hand problem, maybe through better posture. my hands hurt when I type. my fingers ache and sting. I don't think it's carpal tunnel but it really sucks. I wish I knew how to deal with it. I use two mice to draw. one to drag and one to click and scroll and I always alternate functions.
everything is so mellow right now. I'm on hold, waiting for the baby to come. it's like time is standing still. I'm so scared that I won't be able to handle all the additional responsibilities that come with the baby. we have three adults ready to take on the challenge. i hope it's enough. work is so slow, I just have to keep a drawing up and smile when visitors come to tour the shop. I try to look intently at the screen and move around consulting the papers on my desk like I'm doing something really hard. I have many items up for sale on ebay. sometimes I check to see if I have any bites. you can find my auctions there by looking up chinasax. that was my ebay name when I sold saxophones from china. This blog is a blessing right now as I watch the homeless parade their shopping carts across the intersection on this beautiful clear day. I wish I was out there. breathing some fresh exhaust on my way to take a nap in the park. ahhhhh freedom. let it ring!....hello? "yes this is freedom mortgage calling about your current home loan with wasington mutual. could i ask ytou your current rate?"...everybody on the planet knows how much i owe to who, why don't they all know my rate? and blood type and mothers maiden name for that matter? Ii bet they do but they don't let on. anyway, I'm suddenly flooded with real work. I gotta go....

this was a post from irenes blog

Today i'm deleting Irene's blog. she only made one post. I didn't want to delete it with the rest of the blog because it would delete this memory of margaret. she was a dear sweet girl that was killed by a truck on a snowy day in tahoe. She was super nice and is missed by everyone who knew her.

Scott and I went to Margrat's house for dinner tonight. Food is good and plenty. We met other friends and friends' friends. We got to know everybody a little abit about their jobs, hobbies, and where they are from. We had a blast. and we will join them again next month.

the view from my office

here's a picture of my view here. this is the corner i can see in escondido Posted by Picasa

other events of note

I played some sax this weekend and irene experimented with the new camera. it was pretty laid back. we are both just waiting for the baby at this point. waiting for the shit to hit the fan. Posted by Picasa

irenes parking ticket

Irene got a parking ticket because her car overlapped our sidewalk a little when she was in our driveway. we need to send evidence of sorts when we send in the appeal. we are gonna say she was too pregnant and immobile to park elsewhwere. this picture is supposed to look pathetic as possible. we had to shoot it a million times because she kept laughing. this was the best "sad" look she could muster. she got a haircut to keep cool during labor. I hate short haircuts. she looks too butch. she looks like a girl that just ended a relationship or got dumped and bought new shoes and cut off all her hair. whatever, it will grow back ... Posted by Picasa

saturday on the beach

here's dave and my mothrer in law. it was an utterly gorgeous weekend to take walks and enjoy the outdoors. many people were swimming in regular bathing suits. we were betting that they were tourists though. from maine or michigan or something Posted by Picasa

automated crap

comment here

why can't i use the stupid automatic dummy controls like everyone else?

like somewhere, there's a button to enable comments on each link. i have no idea where. try my comment link? does it work? i hate automatic stuff. if you don't know where it is, you're done.

weekend was good. took a walk on the beach it was sweet. i'll send pics later. the weather is awesome. cool but not too cool and sunny and gorgeous. san digo, gotta love it.

Work was slow today so I decided to investigate cancer and maybe find a cure. Turns out it's a very complicated subject. That's what all the hubbub is about. I couldn't get it done this afternoon but I'll keep working on it in my spare time. If we all did this somebody would think of something I'm sure. I'm thinking that cancer cells are viewed too negatively. All the focus is on hindering them and making it harder to do their cell like duties. perhaps they need to be helped not hindered. consider them special needs cells. they may be just missing one piece of the puzzle or some mechanism that makes them behave normally. it's a subtle difference in viewpoint and perhaps just semantics but it might trigger some genious to get on the right path. so go for it geniuses! In the meantime, I found this really sexy set of pictures. see the girl! she's naked! tee hee. Then she's bones and muscles. So, you don't just jump their bones you see, you jump muscle skin hair and nails too. Sexy whooo whooo!! Posted by Picasa

if anyone wonders what I do, here's a bunch of duct I drew for a composting plant. they built it and then stuck it in the building and it all fit in place. Amazing, here I am two hours away with a 2-d floorplan drawing stuff that will twist through 3-d space and hit supports and go through holes and line up with fans and all that. sure enough it fits. That's just crazy I think. Posted by Picasa

testing the bloggerbot with a picture of my beautiful wife......geronimoooo Posted by Picasa

Okay, where were we? damn! another year went by? holy crap!. we should call this the yearly procrastinator. uh hmmmm lets' see, i'm still fabricating fiberglass. actual making drawings of duct and tanks. i quit for a while but I hated my new job so my old boss hired me back. he's pretty cool.
my wife got pregnant and we're having a baby this month. my teeth are all fixed my health is on track I feel i zillion times better than I did in recent years. no pain realy no headaches. my mother in law moved in. she's been with a us a week. she's from china and ruins everything she touches. we have to be understanding though because until you wreck one of everything you touch, you can never learn to be careful. When you are raised in china the government must give you two of everything. you are required to wreck the first one then you take care of the second thing with full hands on knowledge of how it could be wrecked. That's my take on it. She will be really helpful hen the baby comes (or maybe the second baby). It's okay if she ruins a set of nonstick pans or a vcr. after all, what does a week of child care cost? way more than either of those items. After she destroys everything, we can live in a stark concrete bunker of a house with nothing left to ruin and we're home free. we'll just stock up on plastic untensils and paper plates. what else do we need? all I need is the love of my shivering bedraggled impoverished family snuggled together for warmth in our bombed out demolished house. That's what it's all about. Wow, this blogging stuff makes you feel great. Baby Jasmine is on her way and I got a free totsites website to show off her pictures . i will link to it later after she is born and has pictures. nothing esle to report really. i gave up on the chinese saxes and got a real selmer horn that is awesome. if you play an instrument, spend all the money you can and get the best one you can find at any cost. you'll never regret it. Okay, seeya next year!!!
